1. A few words about yourself, where you live and what you do?
My name is Ernesto Emanuele, and I am 27 years old. I’m originally from Rome, Italy, and I moved to Mexico 3 and a half years ago. I live in Playa del Carmen, it’s a perfect city for a vacation in the Caribbean. I work in sales but what I enjoy to do is everything outside of work…the beach, the sun, working out and spending time with good friends and my beautiful girlfriend and our little dog Micia Camicia.
2. How did you come up with the idea for your iPhone application? Who was your inspiration?
Obviously one of the other things that I like is to listen to my favourite music. I always wanted to build some applications for iPhone, unfortunately I have no experience in programming. I always thought it would have been cool to make an application in support of my favourite band ever…KoRn. KoRn is a Californian heavy metal band that has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. They are constantly active and full of side projects and I always wished to find a fan site on the web that covered all of their projects in one place.
That’s why I came up with the idea of iKoRn, to give KoRn fans like me a place where they could find all the news, tour and album info…everything in one spot. iKoRn brings KoRn fans news everyday to their fingertips.
3. What impact did the iPhone application have on your business/life?
It’s affecting my life in many aspects: I’m learning a little bit everyday about programming but I also know that I’m very far from being a real programmer, there are so many things and codes to learn that is like learning another language.
I released the application for free because I did it with the only purpose of enjoying it. Everyday I receive emails from fans around the world thanking me for the application. That’s what pays me for all the hours spent working on this project. Just yesterday I released an EXCLUSIVE interview for iKoRn with Ross Robinson, a big music producer that worked with bands like KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Deftones, and many more. It made me so happy that he liked my application.
Also the guys from the band noticed my application and this month I will fly to Houston to do a video interview with the band. That’s a dream come true thanks to my work on the application and the help of Seattle Clouds.
For now, it’s still a hobby. Maybe in the future I will look for ads on my application.
